Dredging Systems was contracted to remove 30,000 – 40,000m3 of sand building up into the lagoon and dewater the material on the banks. This sand was then used to renourish the local beaches.
Part of the project also involved placing thousands of tonnes of rocks around and under the bridge to halt erosion damage.
